The Learjet 40 is a derivitive of the Learjet 45 and succeeded the Learjet 31A. Based on a shortened Learjet 45 fuselage withTFE731-20AR engines its passenger capacity is 7. In October 2004, two years after its first flight, Bombardier launched the Learjet 40XR which offered owners improved performance largely through the uprated TFE731-20BR engines.
